I decided that I want to plant cucumbers this year but I don’t have enough room in my garden and don’t want to dig up another place in my yard. Can I grow cucumbers in a large pot??? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanx!

Absolutely. Its a climbing vine, just make sure the shoots have something like a trellace to wrap their tendrils around. When they fruite, support the cukes on the same trellace so they dont fall off the vine when they get heavy. Use stale beer to repel slugs. Slugs willwalk into the beer and drown. Stale beer is an EXCELLENT slug killer, you wouldnt beleive it.

i use tomato cages for my cucumbers. i put one cage in the ground and then i turn another cage upside down and attach it to the top of the first one. i drive in 2 five ft poles and attach the cages to the poles. as the cucumber grows wind it back into the cage. it keeps the cucumbers off the ground, only takes up about 2 sq ft of garden space, and looks terrific when the cage is covered by vines.

cucumbers are rather shallow rooted, often following the shade of the vines along the soil surface for several feet, which is why field grown cucumber vines shouldnt be moved. . . because of this, they wouldnt do as well in a pot. . . if your space is restricted, you can grow them upright on a fence or trellis
