I am growing in raised beds this year. Last year I tried a traditional patch of garden.
I am trying again this year to grow cucumbers. Last year they looked OK, but were VERY bitter and inedible.?

Bitterness in cukes is usually caused by lack of water. They need to be watered to the equivalent of 1″ of rain a week. It shouldn’t matter if they are in raised beds or ground level.

Cucumber’s need to be watered regularly if it does not rain, they also like sunshine. I garden in raised beds and let my cukes grow upright in a wire cage, cut holes spaced and big enough to reach in and pick. They grow nice and straight and easy to keep small space watered. Good luck.
