When seeds are germinating, you’ll just want to keep the soil slightly damp. You can do this by just lightly spraying the area. When the seedlings emerge, let the surface of the soil dry a bit, and then lightly spray to get the soil surface moist again. Continue until seedlings are about 3″ tall. Then, you can cut back on the watering.
If the soil is constantly wet, lack of oxygen will cause the roots to become shallow, and the plant will die. The first stage of this is when you see the leaves turning yellow.
