I have started 5 cucumber seedlings that are just sprouting. Can I transplant them into pots and just grow them in the pots?
If yes, how do I go about? (I am in Northern Michigan)

Almost anything can be grown in a container. rmember that cukes are vines and th vines wll need someplace to go so provide them with a trellis. You might have to tie the vines up to the trellis tomake sure the heavy cukes do not pull it away. Gaood luck

Rule of thumb, use as big of pots as you have room for and can afford. Big is better in this case.

I try many times to grow cucumber from seeds. . . fine ,until the moment I transplant them to the yard!they just never grow! I guess, I mean ,now I know for sure that they dont like to be transplanted1 is better to put straight on the ground!
I never heard to plant cucumber in a pot , inside a house(insane – they need a lots of sun -they are full of water!) you need a green house with a height at list 5 foot! dont forget that they are anuals. . . but , you know, anything can happen, maybe you are the lucky one!
I wish the best, and if works please email me!

You can grow cucumbers in containers. Wait until they plants get their secondary leaves and just start vining before you transplant them.
Try not to disturb their roots and keep them warm. Cucumbers need temperatures above 55 to 60 degrees on constant basis to grow. Cool temp’s will stunt them and most likely they will die.
In your container use a good potting soil MIX. . . . not regular cheap potting soil as it gets hard and brick like in containers. I use either Miracle Grow or Schultz potting mix.
. . get it at Walmart for about $6 per 40 bag. It has fertilizer mixed in soil mix but it won’t hurt to add a little extra fertilizer about every 4 to 6 weeks.
When you replant your seedlings you can either put a tomato cage in pot or have a trellis or piece of fence ready to plant for vines to run up. This is critical if you want good cucumber production and also it keeps vines off ground.
Keep it watered especially once it starts flowering and producing cuc’s. When plants are small don’t over water. . . let soil get somewhat dried out before you water again and when your vines start flourishing you may have to water everyday.
Keep cuc’s picked and you should have a good 6 to 8 week period of cucumbers come July.
If your seedlings don’t make it after transplanting . . . you can direct seed your cucumbers into your main pot. They are fast growers. . . usually only taking about 67 or 70 days to produce so you have time to replant if something happens.
Watch out for bugs /cucumber beetles . . . . keep a canister of Seven on hand because if you see one beetle. . within minutes you may have dozens. They are nasty and fast eaters.
Good luck!
